Stay Safe Programme – Caherelly N.S

“Caherelly National School have invited a speaker, Margaret Nohilly to come to our school to give a talk to parents and staff based on the Stay Safe Programme.  As we would like to maximise participation at this event, we have combined with Bohermore NS.  We have also decided to extend our invitation to coaches and leaders of our local clubs, Ballybricken/Bohermore GAA, St Ailbhes and Ballybricken scout group involved with Primary age pupils.

Tackling issues around friendship and bullying, phone and online culture needs a community approach and maximum involvement to ensure all are informed and aware of the potential issues. When equipped with that knowledge and willingness to work together we can help make our children’s lives safer and happier.

Venue: Caherelly National School

Date: Monday 24th April 2023 at 7pm

The Stay Safe programme is a personal safety skills programme that must be taught in all primary schools. The programme explores the following topics with children at all class levels:

Feeling Safe and Unsafe

Bullying

Touches

Secrets and Telling

Strangers

Ultimately the programme aims to develop children’s safety skills, their ability to tell and to teach them about potentially dangerous, upsetting or abusive situations before they become serious. This session will inform parents about the topics and content of the programme at all class levels and explore with parents how you can support the programme in the home environment.

We will have a coffee/tea station on the night and it should give a great opportunity to meet other parents.  There will be a nominal charge of €5 to cover the running costs.”
