Junior A Hurling:  Our Junior A Hurling took on Stakers in the 3rd round of Junior A championship in Hospital on Friday evening last. In a game that lacked spark and excitement, saw our opposition get the opening score from a free from their wing forward. Bally replied with a couple of points almost immediately. At the 10min mark Bally were 0:04-0:02 to the better on the score board, but shortly after Stakers converted 1:01 to put them 2pts ahead. Bally bounced back well before the half time whistle with 5pts from Dan Owens ,2pts from Enda Frawley and 1pt from P.Martin to leave us a head 0:10-1:05 at HT.

The second half started well for stakers with a point within the opening minutes, followed by a fortuitous goal after the ball somehow found its way to the back of the net. Both teams exchanged points throughout the half and a further goal from both sides saw the game  end honours even 3:10-1:16.

Junior B Hurling: Our Junior B Hurlers were in action on Thursday night last in the 3rd  round of Junior B Championship as Doon made their way to Caherelly, In what can be described as a very competitive and entertaining game of hurling from both sides. Doon wen in at the Break  1:09-0:06. In the 2nd half Bally score 3pts immediately to bridge the gap. A couple of more points followed along with  goal but Doon didn’t sit back and hit back with a couple of point of their own. The game finished with a win for Doon on a score 1:12-1:16.

Condolances: All in Ballybricken Bohermore GAA are deeply saddened at the passing of John O’Connell, The Cottages, Ballyneety ,Co Limerick, Formerly of Caherelly, Ballybricken, Co. Limerick

Johnny received his primary education in Caherelly N.S which he completed in 1965, During those years he demonstrated great potential as a hurler. He Continued his education in C.B.S Sexton St. where his prowess as a hurler continued to flourish.

In 1969, a Ballybricken-Fedamore amalgamation reached the East Minor hurling final against Murroe-Boher, During course of the game Johnny scored two outstanding point from sideline cuts, an achievement that was revelled by John Gleeson, manager of the team, for many years to come.

Unfortunately Johnny immigrated to London as a young man and the club was deprived of his talents for many years. During his time in London Johnny played with Treaty Gaels & had the distinction of lining out with his great friend, rival & first cousin Ned Boland of Caherline. On his return to Ireland, Johnny resumed his playing career with the club and in 1986 he served as treasurer of the club.

Johnny continued his deep interest in hurling and was one of limericks most loyal supporters.
